PHES is participating in Virginia Reads One Book!
Yesterday, we welcomed a special guest reader to their school- Carter Bank & Trust CEO Litz Van Dyke!
PHES' participation is sponsored by Carter Bank & Trust, which provided copies of the book to each student and even a barber chair for students to sit in for some quiet reading time.
Yesterday, students gathered around the barber chair to listen to Mr. Van Dyke read the next two chapters of the story. Some of our fifth graders even asked him to autograph their copies of the book!
Several other employees of Carter Bank have been visiting individual classes to read to students as well.
Virginia Reads One Book is a fantastic way to encourage our students to build literacy skills, and we are grateful to have such a wonderful community partner in Carter Bank & Trust!
