Elementary students at LEGO competition

Three teams of MCPS students traveled to James Madison University in December to compete at the state First LEGO League (FLL) LEGO Robotics Competition.

The Rainbow Riveters and the Micro Microwaves, both from PHES, and Absolute Zero from MMS traveled to JMU to competed alongside other top performing teams from across the state after having previously competed in the regional tournament.

The Rainbow Riveters received a judge's award for their exceptional creativity in their presentation and Absolute Zero received a judge's award for their encouragement of other teams (a key component of FLL's core values) and overall fun!

Those teams were also asked by the judges to perform during the closing ceremonies- the only teams from the whole competition who were asked to do so.

The success of these teams adds to the legacy of excellence in MCPS' robotics program. Martinsville teams have previously placed at the state, national, and international levels.
